The Challenge

A lightweight shooting hyper casual game with intuitive tap-to-shoot mechanics saw initial organic momentum but struggled to convert this into long-term scalable UA. CPI was relatively low, but LTV was flatlining due to low retention and rapid churn — a classic hyper casual hurdle.

The game needed to pivot fast: establish a predictable acquisition model, improve session depth, and maximize short-term monetization without hurting install volume.

1. Performance-First Creative Engine

  • Designed 200+ creatives tailored for 6-second gratification: sniper zoom-ins, one-tap headshots, and slow-mo bullet cam moments

     

  • Ran AB tests on background settings (urban vs desert vs alien world) to find highest CTR performers

     

  • Included “failure-first” storytelling formats (e.g., “He missed… but you won’t”) for scroll-stopping retention

     

Result: CTRs climbed 2.3x and IPMs doubled across Meta and Unity Ads

2. Retention Tweaks and Ad Timing Overhaul
